The Regional Natural Reserve of Punta Aderci, with the homonymous rocky promontory, protection one of the most picturesque and spectacular stretches the Abruzzo coast, alternating wide and sandy beaches to cliffs with natural bays and coves of outstanding beauty. It was the first reserve to be established in Abruzzo in the coastal strip (1998).

The Reserve extends for about 285 hectares from beach of Punta Penna in the territory of Vasto (Ch) at the mouth of the river Sinello, on the border with the town of Casalbordino (Ch). North of Port of Vasto It stretches a wide bay with a large light and fine sandy beach that slopes gently into the crystal clear sea, ideal for tours by canoe and diving. The seabed is rich in clams, cockles and crabs. At dell'arenile limit, the shadow of the cliff, extend the features coastal dunes that give the landscape a wild and very scenic aspect.

Here reigns the typical Mediterranean vegetation: the Sea holly, the weeds of the beaches, the sparti, i convolvoli, colored Silene, birdsfoot trefoil Sands, myrtle, the sea lily. From the beach you can climb down a flight of steps on the cliff top, from which you can reach headland of Punta Aderci, along the paved road and continue on the dirt road that crosses the plateau and allows you to reach the highest point of the promontory (m. 26). From here you can admire the entire reserve and the underlying seabed and enjoy an amazing view, at sunset, draws the outlines of the mountains of the three national parks: the Majella, the Gran Sasso-Laga Hey Sibillini.

Continuing on the path you reach the beautiful and secluded beach of pebbles Receive Rossa. Overlooking the beach you can hike a scenic mountain path (20 m s.l.m.) of about 3 kilometers that allows you to discover, on foot or by bicycle, a unique landscape, on extensive pine forests to the sea, valleys and stretches of Mediterranean. The dunes and the river environment provide an ideal environment for many species of birds, as herons, loons, stars, cormorants, the marsh harrier and sister that stands no chance in the reserve logo. The reserve is always open to visitors all year round and access is free. At the point of the Reserve, on the beach of Punta Penna, opened in summer, you can hire canoe to discover the coast from the sea, or rent mountain bikes to wander through the dunes and along the many paths in.
